Boat Tram

Captain Operator
dumps sand ballast
for traction on the railwaves.

Her first mate
runs up the pirate flag
against the clipper chips.

Launched in Blackpool
A waterfront jaunt lasting
fifteen years shy of a century.

Overhead wires
sing sea shanties about
Nowhere in Particular.

Face of a startled owl
landing occasionally at the wharf
to feast on dungeness crab.

Joy itself runs on rails
wearing cream and green
and you can ride for free.
