Wayfinding (22 Fillmore)

For the first time
I’m above ground
in San Francisco
& don’t yet know
East from West
or where to look
for street signs.
Wires strung
across the sky
sing a chorus
that snaps and
twangs to herald
the arrival of
My Bus:
an orange and white
22 Fillmore.
I pay a dollar
for a strip
of paper
that has been
torn in half.
I begin my ride–
