We have some bittersweet news to share with you today: after over two years of operation, the Bay City Beacon is coming to a close!
As many of you know, we’ve been working on finding a new owner/operator for several months. While we weren’t able to find a good fit, we did come across a group of great people who will be carrying on the torch for interesting journalism: Public Comment.
Public Comment is an outlet that is launching this week with a data-centered focus on San Francisco economics, policy and politics. You can learn more about them and their work at PublicCommentSF.com
We want to thank all of you for being such amazing readers and stalwart supporters of the Beacon. This has been an incredible journey for our team, and we’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to write about San Francisco for you all.
Also, many of you have asked us to continue our weekly Beacon Briefings. We’re happy to say that we will continue our weekly Beacon Briefings for our paid subscribers. We’re even going to expand the briefings to include post-Board of Supervisor roundups and legislation memos! We may through a bit of a name change to keep things fresh, so please keep an eye out for us in your inbox.
Finally, the Bay City Beacon website will remain online, in case you ever want to go back and check out our greatest hits.
Thank you so much again for all your support and readership over the past few years! Please check out PublicCommentSF.com, and we hope to see you around the City soon!
